In the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region, HIV prevalence among transgender people ranges from 8 – 68%, while over half of them are unaware of their HIV-positive status. Many transgender people avoid health care because they are scared of being judged.

Redlactrans responds to the local needs of the transgender community

Redlactrans – The Latin American and Caribbean Network of Transgender People – is a regional network that represents the transgender community. Redlactrans responds to the local needs of the transgender community in Latin-America by uniting the forces of all partners in their network. Based in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Redlactrans  collaborates with international partners in more than 10 countries. They address human rights violations of transgender people in Latin America and offer HIV prevention programs, for example through rapid HIV testing.
