The number of people living with HIV treated in resource poor countries has increased more than 20-fold since 2001. However, only 47% of the 14.2 million people eligible for treatment in resource poor countries were getting it in 2010, and substantial regional variation in access persists.
Treatment Prepared Coalition (ITPC) and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa (ARASA) Consortium was formed in 2013. The consortium includes global and regional networks forming a worldwide social movement of people living with HIV and inadequately served populations primarily in the Global South.
